About the artist:
Donny Gettinger earned an MFA in Sculpture from the Henry Radford Hope School of Art in Bloomington, Indiana and a BFA in Printmaking from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. His work is exhibited both nationally and internationally, most recently in Germany, Italy, Minnesota, and Iowa. Donny was a 2015 Artist in Residence at Grin City Collective in Grinnell, Iowa.

In his own words:

I have always found a welcomed curiosity and frustration with "in-betweens." My work as an artist maintains a focus on the tension found within these transitional spaces. While humoring a youth-stricken sense of adventure, I have explored the ambiguous area between male adolescence and adulthood within the Midwestern landscape. Driven by this interest in regionally specific subjects, I have expanded my perspective to consider the spaces between popular portrayals of locations and realities existing beneath the veneer.

These examinations are presented through pieces which exist in equivocal states. By melding together a diverse cast of mediums, I create uncanny assemblages and compositions caught in scene-of-the-crime aesthetic. Combinations of video, collage, auto-mechanics, sculpture, and pop-up installation immerse the viewer in the physical processes of curiosity, latency, and regression.
