JEFF ALLEN Boxing Gloves and Lemons, oil on linen panel, 16" x 20", 2017
Jeff was born in 1958 in Cedar Rapids, IA. He has lived most of his life in Iowa and is currently living in Solon, IA. He is the founder of the Plein Air Painters of Iowa and a past member of the Plein Air Painters of Chicago, Artist member of the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts of Chicago, and the Cedar Rapid Drawing Group. Jeff attended drawing and painting classes at the Palette & Chisel in Chicago and attended drawing and painting classes at the Des Moines Art Museum. In his own words:
To draw inspiration, I look to the Iowa Landscape and the group of friends that surround me. The beauty & drama of light and shadow. Weather it is on the land, figure or still life, presents challenges. The challenge of finding within the composition the rhythm & form, that expresses what you want to say. Not until that final stroke of paint is put down, and the viewer makes that connection, do I feel that I have communicated what I have experienced to the viewer. |
