Iowa Writes

Sledding Hill

The gods want to help, really,
The white streaked with voices,
If only, if only, the ice celestial,
Ribbons for hair, laughter.

The woods are dark, the branches creak.
At night, it might be here
Where the gods assemble,
Count these footprints, pining for morality.
