Josh Meier is a nature and landscape photographer based out of Tipton, Iowa.  He is a graduate of the University of Iowa and his art is held in private collections in the United States, Canada, Ireland, and Nigeria.

While Josh frequently photographs the grand vistas and iconic scenes of America's National Parks, he also places great focus on capturing and sharing the often overlooked, underappreciated beauty of Iowa.  Through his work he hopes to inspire people to reconnect with nature, and to preserve the wondrous world that exists just outside our doors.

In his own words

Photography for me provides a means of achieving a greater connection with the natural world. It's a conveyance that allows one to become completely enraptured in their surroundings; to let all other matters drop away and simply be in the moment. While out in the field shooting I strive to capture instances of profound beauty, no matter how fleeting, and preserve them so their inspiration can live on. In this it is always my hope to create art that transcends experience; that the viewer, regardless of their level of familiarity with the scene, can connect to on an emotional level and share in appreciating the wonders of this world.

Though I love to travel and have a portfolio featuring images from across the United States and Canada, my work has evolved to place greater emphasis on scenes from my home state of Iowa. I want to remind people of the natural beauty that lies within our rolling hills and woodlands, and discredit the cliché that our state is as flat as a table top (and as interesting as its bottom.) I take great pleasure in presenting pieces featuring Iowa scenery displayed side by side with photos which highlight magnificent mountain views, and watching people marvel equally at both.

Above all else, I hope my images will inspire people to open their eyes to the natural world and the beauty all around, and perhaps strike a chord encouraging them to protect it. I can think of nothing more fulfilling than to have my photography rouse in someone the desire to connect with nature; to move them to take measures in caring for the environment and to preserve these special places while we still can.
