NICK LAPOLE
Shame, linocut print, 9" x 12", 2014

Nick LaPole attended Grand View University from 2010 to 2014, studying both Studio Arts and English.  He works in a variety of media, such as drawings and prints, while also exploring new avenues for creative expression, both traditional and digital.  Along with creating, Nick strives to participate in the world around him and to maintain connections with his peers and the art community at large.  He currently lives in Des Moines, Iowa.

Based in narrative, Nick explores and visualizes his thoughts, strengths, and shortcomings onto a tactile surface.  His mark possesses an energetic, obsessive quality, adding a bit of vigor to otherwise 2-D forms.  The stories he shares range the temperaments; whether thoughtful, crass, uplifting, or depressing, the goals of his work are to chart out his own confusing head-space and to connect in new and exciting ways with the audience.
