Cedar Ridge Winery in the Fall

Cedar Ridge Winery in the Fall, oil on linen panel, 16" x 8"

Iowa artist Jeff Allen draws his inspiration from the Iowa landscape, objects from everyday life, and the group of friends that surround him.

Jeff is a 1984 graduate of the University of Iowa and the founder of the Plein Air Painters of Iowa.  He is also a member of the Plein Air Painters of Chicago, Iowa Artists, and the Cedar Rapids Drawing Group, and an Artist Member of the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts of Chicago.

Jeff's work has been described as bold, yet soft, and pastoral with a certain dreamlike ethereal quality.

The artist tells us about this work: "This was painted in the late summer at Cedar Ridge Winery in Swisher, Iowa.  It has the feel of the late summer light and warmth.  It's a plein air painting that was completed during an outing of the Iowa Plein Air Painters."

Cedar Ridge Winery in the Fall is currently on view in the exhibition "Midwest Summer: Light and Warmth" at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.  This show is on view through September 13th.
