Traces of a Memory

Traces of a Memory, acrylic and mixed media on canvas, 48" x 36", 2014

About the artist:

"For the past thirty years I worked in human services and education and am now working as a full time artist.  I have exhibited extensively and am represented by galleries in Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, California, and Arizona.  My work has won awards from the Pastel Society of America, Pastel Journal, and International Artist magazine.  I teach workshops in abstraction around the United States.  My book Abstract Art Painting: Expressions in Mixed Media and a series of DVDs will be available through Northlight Books April/May of 2015."

About her work:

"I began to explore abstraction about fifteen years ago after working realistically most of my life.  I wanted more than rendering something in a realistic way and wanted something deeper and more personal.  Pastels have allowed me to work intuitively and expressively.  I also work with large format mixed media paintings.  Much of my non-objective and abstract works are inspired by nature."
