DIANE MICHELE VOLRATH Diane Volrath is an artist based in Camanche, Iowa. Diane's art career started in her studio under the basement stairs at about seven years old. Little did she know, she would have art hanging in private showings and museums like the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa. Watercolors, quilting, charcoals, sugar, photography, and glass are all mediums she has used in her art. Twenty-two years ago Diane opened Cake Creations in Davenport. Specializing in wedding cakes allowed her to use sugar as her art medium. Nine years ago Bakers Asthma (due to breathing wheat) forced Diane to change her creation of flowers from sugar to stained glass. Diane has an environmentally safe studio where all glass scraps are used to create new items like 3-D glass flowers, jewelry, bowls, and trivets. She enjoys creating art within art. |
