Iowa Writes ERIN MARSHALL ROSE (Rolling her eyes) REINA So? ROSE I'm saying it gets old. Couldn't they have come up with something better? A different flower, maybe? REINA C'mon. They can't send a postcard with tulips on it to a girl named Rose. ROSE It would've been a nice change. REINA If you say so. ROSE Roses, roses, roses—every birthday, every postcard. REINA (Looking through the postcards and beginning to ignore ROSE) ROSE Reina. (Thinking) How would you feel if they gave you water for your birthday? REINA (Looking at her skeptically) ROSE Or—or what about postcards with pictures of water on them? You would get annoyed, wouldn't you? REINA Most postcards nowadays do have pictures of water on them, Rose. Look around. Seaside scenes are pretty typical. (Beat.) Besides, you know Mom and Dad didn't send me postcards. ROSE Yeah. I guess. |
