Sarah Coote lives and works in Philadelphia.  Her work is predominantly in the medium of painting, but she introduces installation and photography in her studio practice.  Coote received her BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2013.  Recently, she has had work featured in exhibitions at Vox Populi, New Boone, Little Berlin Gallery, and the Ice Box Project Space, as well as others.  In spring 2014, she was a resident of the Grin City Collective in Grinnell, Iowa.

I love controlling an environment. Control gives me the perception that I can know what is real and certain even if I am unsure if that is the case. I think this is something like hiding under the covers. This is a dilemma I am constantly thinking about in my studio; what good is control? Is there a fit role for escape in our lives? --Sarah Coote
