Shadows of Man Falling, monotype, 16 1/2" x 22 1/2", 2009

Peggy is a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area and was born in 1937.  She earned her BFA degree from the University of Colorado, and her MFA from Drake University in 1980.  She taught drawing and printmaking at the Des Moines Art Center during the 90s.  Her work has won recognition in many exhibitions and is included in many private and corporate collections.

The artist writes this about her work:

I usually paint in oil mediums, but also work on printmaking and often meet on Saturdays to do watercolor painting with the Saturday Sketch Club.  My monotype prints are inspired by the 1880s pioneering photography of Eadweard Muybridge who originated a fast action technique to photograph people and animals in action.

Peggy Jester's work was previously featured on the Daily Palette in 2004 and 2008.
