Expontaneous Eye

Expontaneous Eye, pastel on paper, 22" x 30", 2012

Andrea received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2004. After completing her studies and MFA requirements within the Painting and Drawing program at the University of Iowa, Andrea was invited to stay on an additional year to teach and create work within Iowa's Printmaking department. She graduated this past May with an MFA in studio arts with emphasis in Painting and Drawing and additional emphasis in Printmaking.

About the artist's work:

"Andrea has a strong interest in the natural forms of the universe and the underlying science and structures that comprise them. Often starting with systems or a pre-set structure, she desires to start within the objective realm and allowing, as the work develops, for the emotional and the subjective to enter the decision-making and evolution of the final image. Andrea explores and investigates science and geometry, space and color, arriving at a form language where objective information and the subjective experience can be in dialogue."

Andrea's art will be featured on the Daily Palette on June 13th and 14th in order to give our visitors a better understanding of the range of her work!
