CHELSEA DARTER

Chelsea Darter is an Iowa native and recently received her BFA in Photography from the University of Iowa.  Her work has appeared at PhotoPlace Gallery and The International Photography Festival in Pingyao, China.

Ms. Darter writes, "My most recent series captures moments where subjects sit somewhere between conventional and surreal.  The tension between characters and surroundings creates a larger narrative and conveys a hyper-reality reminiscent of film-stills.  I wanted to create captivating images by playing with people's innate desire for storytelling.  My hopes are that these melodramatic scenes spark the viewer's intuition, and even cause them to question the character's reality."
