Meghan Bean received her BFA (2008) from Mount Mercy University and her MFA (2011) in Visual Art from Washington University in Saint Louis. Her work has been exhibited at galleries and museums throughout the United States, including New York, Chicago, and Saint Louis, as well as internationally in Paris at the Cité Internationale des Arts. She is currently based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and teaches courses in painting and printmaking at Mount Mercy University.

About her work:

Meghan Bean's current studio practice is invested in analyzing the impact of visual representation on social relationships, and her art is a reaction to the portrayal of marginalized groups and individuals. Her recent body of work, primarily in painting and drawing, explores the parallels between the way women and animals are portrayed throughout history and in contemporary culture.
