Woman with Fan (Purple)

Woman with Fan (Purple), steel, 10" x 15" x 9"

James Bearden states about his work, "In my new works I strive for spatial writing in metal, a bare linear style which depends largely on rhythmic invention and a balance of dynamic movements stemming from a single fulcrum. Hammering, bending, melting steel and bronze in an investigation of volumetric form and constructivist abstraction. Rods of varying lengths look as if frozen in time, welded steel forms recalling their skeletal structure. Ancient, stripped down to their natural state."
