SCOTT LINDGREN
Perfect Dreams

We thought we'd be too wise, when grown,
     to dream and then postpone.
We praised ourselves for what we'd do, for who we'd be,
so now it frightens us to see
that our best dreams, our bright hopes, life's deepest aspirations,
are growing old -- and facing lowered expectations.
Yet still, we dream our perfect dreams of living life on warm      vacations.

About Iowa Writes

In November of 2008, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated Iowa City, Iowa, the world's third City of Literature, making the community part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
