Christopher Merkle is a native Iowan. His educational background is in art, design, and history. After the majority of his art work burnt in a house fire in 2010, he began to produce a series of linoleum prints that explore stories/histories.

The Tawrat or Torah or Pentateuch is a point of intersection for three of the largest religions on earth. Understanding of the texts is dependent on the reader. The Pentateuch Prints are visual translations of sections from the first five books Christian Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Multiple translations of the Bible were used. Together, the prints create new narratives; these stories that can be altered, personalized, and universalized by arrangement and interpretation.
