Orange Terrain

Orange Terrain, plate steel, autobody paint, 9'

James Bearden states, "In my new works i strive for spacial writing in metal, a bare linear style which depends largely on rhythmic invention and a balance of dynamic movements stemming from a single fulcrum.

Hammering, bending, melting steel and bronze in an investigation of volumetric form and constructivist abstraction. Rods of varying lengths look as if frozen in time, welded steel forms recalling their skeletal and weathered structure.

Ancient, stripped down to their natural state. Intentional symmetric controlled construction. Brutal, fused, corroded, natural chaotic finishes, bring forth tortured figural beings.

Earth takes back the sculpture."
