Six Figures

Six Figures, steel, 64" x 20" x 6"

An Iowa native, Mark received his bachelor's degree in Art & Design from Cornell College in Mount Vernon.  The majority of his professional artistic endeavors have been explorations in both two & three-dimensional metals, most notably freestanding and installation sculpture.

Captivated by the boundless possibilities of geometric forms, Mark's work is primarily abstract and non-objective.  The high-tension designs of his freestanding sculptures often explore concepts of implied movement, transformation, and self-awareness.  His most recent efforts include weathered steel constructions that employ fundamental shapes with striking simplicity.  Through the use of contrasting forms and textures, these outwardly simple sculptures define space with rather playful and whimsical results.

Mark's work is represented in several galleries and private collections throughout the Midwest.  His work has been shown in both solo and group exhibitions, and gained such awards as 'Critic's Choice' and 'Best In Show'.  In recent years, Mark's work has been included in a number of civic exhibitions across Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana.
