JOHN IRA THOMAS AND CARTER ALLEN Panel from MAN IS VOX: Paingels, Words by John Ira Thomas, Art by Carter Allen (ISBN 0-9743147-4-9)
John Ira Thomas was born in a very tiny town in Colorado nowhere near a mountain. He holds Masters' Degrees in Greek (Texas Tech University) and Latin (University of Iowa) and his day job involves telling people where to park. He has written eight graphic novels, two art books, and a fair pile of comics."My work always starts with talking. The characters explain themselves to me, and the process begins there. Working with an artist means that I'm writing the same story alongside that person. I also do the lettering on my stories, so I really get to write it twice, once before I've seen the art, and once after. The collaboration is always exhilarating, and the result often surprises both of us." Carter Allen was born and raised in North Dakota until he moved to Iowa, first Marion and then Coralville, in 1984. After attending Iowa Wesleyan College, he moved back to Coralville. He now lives in West Des Moines, Iowa. He is the writer and artist on Dub Trub, 252-Z, ...And The Sky Turned White and Atlanta. He is the artist on the Man Is Vox series. |
