CARL HOMSTAD

Carl Homstad was born in Denver, CO in 1951. Since coming to Luther College in 1969, he has lived near Decorah, Iowa. He paints murals, oils, watercolors, and makes woodcut prints.

About his work, Carl writes, "Each piece I create is a combination.  A place and time are combined to show nature at extraordinary moments, like the last rays of the sun or the snow falling in the afternoon. Different places are combined to make an interesting composition of abstract shapes. Each one is an attempt to picture a combination of the physical and the philosophical."
