AMANDA MURPHY

Amanda Murphy grew up in Des Moines, Iowa.  She took many art classes and enjoyed many artistic formats.  She studied set design and intermedia in college at the University of California, Santa Cruz.  She then moved back to Iowa and received a BFA in Studio Art (emphasis 3-D Design) from the University of Iowa.  Amanda currently lives in Iowa City and continues to make commission work.  She has shown her work in a variety of venues.

Of her work, Murphy writes, "In my work I emphasize composition, texture, and color.  I am inspired by forms from nature, lineaments of the human body, aspects from manmade creations, emotions and dichotomies.  My previous works also serve as a springboard for my next pieces of artwork.  To express my ideas, I use different mediums.  My art is continually evolving, as I challenge myself."
