Of herself, Fischer writes, "I am originally from Davenport, but have lived in Cedar Rapids for over 20 years.  After receiving my Masters in Art from Iowa years ago, I went back to Iowa to study under Virginia Meyers seven years ago and stayed with her for three years to learn her techniques of printmaking. I have been in many local shows and in New York.  I currently have a studio in Cedar Rapids."

"To me, foil printing is a form of painting.  Layer by layer, I build foil over photos, drawings, or a white surface; sometimes adding multiple sheets of foil sometimes taking some away. By using foil, the interaction of natural light is able to evolve throughout the day. The change of light along with the interaction of movement of the viewer creates a new piece. Foil printing or imaging is the process of hot stamping roll leaf to a variety of substrates for the purposes of creating fine art.  Foil, or roll leaf, is a sophisticated product used in commercial printing to produce an unusual palette using a wide variety of metal finishes or gloss, matte, blind embossed and pearl images on paper. It may stand alone as an art form, or it may be used with traditional printing techniques such as intaglio, lithography, relief and serigraphy.  By incorporating roll leaf into a printed image, the artist may achieve dimensions for aesthetic expression that are impossible to realize when using other traditional techniques."
