Dog Gone Blue

Dog Gone Blue, silkscreened multi-matrix monoprint, 46" x 36", 2005

Karen Blomme has an MA in Education and an MA in Art. She is currently working on her MFA in Printmaking at the University of Iowa.

Of her work, Blomme writes, "In the Fall of 2004, I started studying and working at the University of New Orleans. Adapting and accommodating to the new environment of New Orleans had been my focus of subject and content in my artwork. Then chaos and displacement prevailed, Hurricane Katrina hit and
evacuation was necessary. It was the second year anniversary of the devastating storm on the 29th of August.  The decision was made to revisit some of the series of artwork, made in NOLA.  "Dog Gone Blue" is one of those pieces."
