With its magnificent score by Stephen Sondheim, this Tony Award-winning musical weaves our favorite fairytales into a rich tapestry of love, laughter and the thrill of venturing into the dark and mysterious woods. Featuring a cast of students and community actors ranging in age from 5 to 55, Into the Woods was a smashing success for University Theatres, selling out nine out of ten performances.

Borrowing from the whimsy and farce of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as soap operas and the Internet, this big-hearted comedy follows a series of supposedly perfect weddings that explode into a summertime fantasia of love in all its tangled combinations. A Perfect Wedding featured a three-story set made of steel, a 20 x 40 foot screen for video projections and a mud-wrestling pit -- designed by guest artist Leiko Fuseya.

The fabled palace is a world of power, decadence, and seductive fantasy, a place where nothing is too extreme. Guest director David Schweizer fuses comic vignettes, period politics and contemporary stylings to re-imagine a day in the life of King Louis XIV. Contributing writers include Obie award-winning UI alumni Rinde Eckert, Richard Kramer (thirtysomething), and James Magruder (Broadway's Triumph of Love).

Poetic and passionate, In the Blood follows the trials of a homeless mother of five who lives with her kids on the tough streets of the inner city. Five actors play both the small children who fill her life with joy and the adults who break her down. Lovingly comical moments are juxtaposed by the harsh world of poverty in this modern masterpiece.
