Iowa Writes

RITA MCCORD

September's

ode to the incessant cricket
screeching in desperation for a few more
days or hours of play

geese honking out their GPS
breeze rustling through the trees
chilling the skin

horsefly buzzing before she dies
early risers
emphatic goodbyes
