Late Fall Hay Bales

JEFF ALLEN
Late Fall Hay Bales, oil on linen panel, 12" x 16", Nov. 2014

Iowa artist Jeff Allen draws his inspiration from the Iowa landscape, objects from everyday life, and the group of friends that surround him.

Jeff is a 1984 graduate of the University of Iowa and the founder of the Plein Air Painters of Iowa.  He is also a member of the Plein Air Painters of Chicago, Iowa Artists, and the Cedar Rapids Drawing Group, and an Artist Member of the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts of Chicago.

Jeff's work has been described as bold, yet soft, and pastoral with a certain dreamlike ethereal quality.

The artist writes, "Late Fall Hay Bales was painted on the 27th of November, 2014 on Prairie du Chine Rd, just north of Iowa City.  It was a warm day for late fall so one of the Iowa Plein Air Painters joined me for a paint out.  We both came away with wonderful paintings looking in opposite directions."
