monochrome in acrylic, #1

CALEE HIMES
monochrome in acrylic, #1, acrylic, 5" x 5" x 2", 2014

Calee is a gal hanging onto the last bit of her 20s as she ventures into an MFA degree in graphic design, whilst balancing a full-time career as a designer, a long-distance relationship, and a million other hobbies and trades.

"As a graphic designer with a demanding schedule, I don't often get to experiment with other mediums. When I do get spare time, I like to play with other mediums, such as paint, ink, or collage. These experiments are driven by design principles and color, as well as inherent qualities of the medium. Currently I'm working on creating several monochrome acrylic 5x5x2" pieces in different hues. I don't think of the canvas as a flat plane, instead, I think of it as a three-dimensional object since we see all dimensions of it, which is why I prefer canvases with a deeper edge."
