Guldbeck's recent solo exhibitions include both commercial venues and not for profit spaces such as University of Northern Iowa, Samuel Morse Museum and Historic Site in New York, and Toyahashi Museum in Japan. She is represented by Concept Art Gallery in Pittsburgh and Galleri 5000 in Denmark. She is currently a Full Professor of Painting and Graduate Coordinator at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

The artist tells us about her work:
"Collecting maps, fabric patterns, botanical drawings, testing, and understanding how the ancient craft of encaustic works is inspiring. Researching the history of the landscape where specimens are collected and the history and systems of the plants themselves allows me to develop content and reveal the relationships I discover through paintings. This distinct process of material selection allows me to physically embed elements of regional specificity and conceptual implications into my work. I see a return of nature as a concern in contemporary painting. By reconsidering existing structures I question how we define things visually. My ongoing purpose is to prolong the act of looking, facilitating the understanding that what may initially seem to be random actually serves intention."

Mille Guldbeck's work will be featured on the Daily Palette again tomorrow.  Don't miss it!
