Iowa Writes MARGARET HORN the cat snarls flexes its claws strikes out at the mouse the unsuspecting mouse just sits there unprotected the swift feline pounces and easily snares the mouse in its paws the mouse is confused it doesn't know what hit it the cat plays with the mouse tossing it up in the air this way that way the mouse is diverted by the crafty cat into thinking something it did caused the situation the cat laughs to himself the silly mouse he says scornfully never catches on to my game |
About Iowa Writes Since 2006, "Iowa Writes" has featured the work of Iowa-identified writers on The Daily Palette, and it has recently expanded its scope to include work published by Iowa journals and publishers. Curated by the staff of The Iowa Review, "Iowa Writes" features poetry, fiction, or nonfiction several times a week on the Palette. In November, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated Iowa City, Iowa, the world's third City of Literature, making the community part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
